Gloucester have confirmed that attack coach Alex King will not be returning to the sidelines next season and is instead leaving the club.

A replacement for King has not been named, while the rest of Gloucester’s first-team coaching staff remains the same, with George Skivington as head coach, Dom Waldouck as defence coach, Tim Taylor as assistant backs and academy transition coach, and Trevor Woodman assistant forwards and academy transition coach.

King had been at Kingsholm for two seasons, having previously held similar roles at Northampton Saints, Clermont Auvergne and Montpellier.

“I’m proud of what we have achieved at Gloucester over the last two years and of my contribution to the team’s development. I wish George and the team every success going forward,” he said.

Meanwhile, London Irish have snapped up Ed Scragg and Josh Caulfield from Cornish Pirates. Scragg is a Wales U20 lock, while 24-year-old Caulfield is comfortable in both the second and back-row and has played for England through the entire age group range.

“Ed is a young talent, and we are confident that he will develop his skills here at London Irish. We are looking forward to seeing what he can add to the squad,” said Exiles boss Declan Kidney.

“Josh is a good, versatile player and has tasted life in first-tier rugby before, and myself, Les and the rest of the coaches believe he will again embrace the step up to Premiership with us.”
