Player ratings: Tommaso Allan shines for Italy

Editor

Here's our Italy player ratings following their 29-27 loss to Scotland at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

15 Matteo Minozzi – Showed his running threat once again as his stock continues to rise. Was fully deserving of his first-half try. 8/10

14 Tommaso Benvenuti – Much better day for the wing as he found more ball than in previous weeks. Slipped contact well on his 50th cap. 7/10

13 Giulio Bisegni – Always an option to his playmakers but four missed tackles will sting. 6/10

12 Tommaso Castello – Again a solid foil for his fly-half and was busy with ball in hand too with 11 carries. 7/10

11 Mattia Bellini – Didn't see as much ball as in previous weeks but when he found possession he was a threat, capping a strong Six Nations campaign. 7/10

10 Tommaso Allan – Excellent first try, slicing through from ten metres out before his smart grubber set up Minozzi. He then finished well for his second try and was unlucky to finish on the losing side. 9/10

9 Marcello Violi – Another impressive performance from the scrum-half alongside Allan although he should have dived on that Scottish chip kick. 7/10

8 Sergio Parisse – A couple of poor passes halted attacks but his effort can never be faulted. 6/10

7 Jake Polledri – Won breakdown penalties and was everywhere in Rome. His line bust set up Allan's second try and he rightly received a warm ovation when he was replaced. 9/10

6 Sebastian Negri – Physical again and unlucky to have a try disallowed for an earlier knock-on in the play. Such a talent. 8/10

5 Dean Budd – Made a lovely offload early on and was also prominent at the line-out, throwing in a nice offload to boot. 7/10

4 Alessandro Zanni – Great line-out take on 18 minutes and put in a shift around the field before coming off early in the second-half. 6/10

3 Simone Ferrari – Put in a huge first scrum before Scotland found their feet at the set-piece. He also made a great tackle on  Nick Grigg when the centre was in full flow. 7/10

2 Leonardo Ghiraldini – Solid set-piece again from Ghiraldini. 11 tackles to go with 11 carries is a solid day at the office. 7/10

1 Andrea Lovotti – Won the turnover before Negri's disallowed try and was again busy around the field. 7/10

Replacements:

16 Oliviero Fabiani – Not on long enough.

17 Nicola Quaglio – A busy 20 minutes that saw him make a strong carry. 6/10

18 Tiziani Pasquali – Came on for the final quarter and put himself about. 6/10

19 Abraham Steyn – Replaced Zanni after 53 minutes and unfortunately fumbled the ball in the final play. 5/10

20 Giovanni Licata – Not on long enough.

21 Guglielmo Palazzani – Not on long enough.

22 Carlo Canna – Not on long enough.

23 Jayden Hayward – Came on for Benvenuti on 53 minutes but didn't have as much as an impact as in previous games. 5/10
