Player ratings: Alun Wyn Jones a rock for Wales

Here's our Wales player ratings following their 14-13 win over France at the Principality Stadium.

15 Leigh Halfpenny – Consistent kicking as is usually the case but caught slightly out of position for the Gael Fickou try. Strong defensively otherwise. 7/10

14 George North – Becoming something of an enigma to Welsh rugby given his talent but deteriorating effect on games. 6/10

13 Scott Williams – Carried more than any of his teammates with sufficient gain but didn’t break the line enough. 6/10

12 Hadleigh Parkes – Had beaten more defenders than anyone before round five but didn’t influence the contest like he has done previously. 6/10

11 Liam Williams – Always keen to get involved with good running lines. Took opportunistic try well. 8/10

10 Dan Biggar – A case of two fly-halves unable to control a contest that needed controlling. Forward dominated contest limited his influence. 6/10

9 Gareth Davies – Pressing his claim to replace Rhys Webb on permanent basis. Put his side in the right areas and keen with ball in hand. 7/10

8 Taulupe Faletau – Provided moments that showed his obvious quality but a scrappy contest prevented him from doing it regularly. 7/10

7 Josh Navidi – The back-rower’s effort in defence was colossal, even if he offered little in attack. 7/10

6 Justin Tipuric – Replaced after an hour after a solid but fairly uninspiring Cardiff outing. 6/10

5 Alun Wyn Jones (c) – Huge in defence – which his side did plenty of in the second 40 – and did his best to provide go forward ball. 8/10

4 Cory Hill – Spent much time defending in the contest which didn’t allow him time to do much else. 5/10

3 Tomas Francis – Failed to gain the upper hand over his opposite number and offered little else. 5/10

2 Ken Owens – One of the defensive linchpins, especially later on, without offering anything in attack. 7/10

1 Rob Evans – Probably lost the battle at scrum time which allowed the French upper hand. 5/10

17 Nicky Smith – Not on long enough.

18 Samson Lee – Not on long enough.

19 Bradley Davies – Not on long enough.

20 Aaron Shingler – Allowed a good chunk of the second period but knocked on and didn’t get a chance to broadcast his skillset.  Fine line-out steal at the death. 6/10

21 Aled Davies – Did not feature.

22 Gareth Anscombe – Did not feature.

23 Steff Evans – Did not feature.
