Piers Francis: England international swaps Northampton Saints for Bath

Bath have announced that they have signed England centre Piers Francis, who will join them for the 2022/23 campaign.

Francis, who can also play fly-half, has been a stalwart in Northampton Saints‘ backline since joining them in 2017.

Bath‘s chief executive, Tarquin McDonald, is delighted that Francis will be joining the west country club.

“Piers’ experience will prove extremely valuable. He is a talented individual who will complement the young group of backs we have at the club,” he told Bath’s official website.

Experienced campaigner

Francis has plenty of experience at club and Test level. He represented England at the 2019 Rugby World Cup and played for Super Rugby outfit the Blues in 2016 and 2017.

“With the players the club currently has and the ones that have been recruited, it is an exciting fresh start for me,” said the 31-year-old.

“Every time I have played at the Rec you feel the buzz from the supporters. I can’t wait to play in front of them and help the club progress.”
