Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips has been made eligible to play for his new club Racing Métro in their Heineken Cup clash with Quins on Saturday.

The 31-year-old is added as an additional player to the squad and is free to play at Stade de la Beaujoire having not played in Europe this term.

“Racing Metro 92 is happy to announce the signature of Welsh international Mike Phillips. He will be available for selection for this Saturday's Heineken Cup fixture against Harlequins in Nantes,” said club president Jacky Lorenzetti.

“For several months, Racing has been negotiating with Phillips and his agents with the aim of recruiting him for the 2014/15 season.

“The recent events in Bayonne have only precipitated his signature.”
