Super 14 franchise Western Force are said to have offered O'Young a contract as they look to replace Matt Henjak, who is set to be suspended for the bulk of the season after a hotel fight which left a team-mate with a broken jaw.

“There is an offer out to a player and he has indicated that he will accept it but we will not consider that accepted until we see that in writing,” Force chairman Geoff Stooke said.

“I have no idea the condition Chris O'Young is in and what he has been doing, but one step at a time.”

Force may need special permission from the Australian Rugby Union to bring in O'Young because the season has already started.
