North sweating on knee scan

Wales wing George North will undergo scans on Monday to determine the extent of a knee injury sustained in the 57-13 home defeat to Saracens.

North withdrew from the Champions Cup defeat after 25 minutes with what looked like a serious injury to his left knee.

The 69 test veteran, who missed the Lions Test series this year due to a hamstring injury, suffered the blow during a carry into the Saracens 22.

Following treatment after the knock, the 25-year-old collapsed unopposed when he attempted to run again. Now many fear he will be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

And Northampton's director of rugby Jim Mallinder hopes the injury is not that serious.

“After seeing George after the game, he’s not sure (how serious the injury is),” Mallinder told the Northampton Chronicle .

“He’ll go and have a scan on it and it’s one of those where fingers crossed it’s not too bad.”

Wales begin their four-Test autumn international series against the Wallabies in Cardiff on November 11.
