All Blacks wing Will Jordan returned to international rugby with a bang as he set up Aaron Smith for the opening try against the Springboks in Auckland.

Jordan, who hasn’t played Test rugby since September last year, was in red hot form from the outset as his speed caused South Africa plenty of problems.

It was his carry and quick recycle that set up the All Blacks’ opening score of the match as his team got off to the perfect start at Mount Smart Stadium.

All Blacks on fire early on

New Zealand had South Africa on the ropes before the ball found its way to Jordan on the right wing after full-back Beauden Barrett fired a pass out wide.

Jordan then set off on the outside of Willie le Roux and while the Bok full-back did bring him to ground, he released the winger, who then got back to his feet.

The 25-year-old Crusaders flyer caught the recovering Bok defence napping as he scorched over the 22 metre line before finding Smith for a simple run-in.

That crossing, converted by Richie Mo’unga, put New Zealand 7-0 up on three minutes and they made it 10-0 shortly after thanks to a Mo’unga penalty goal.

Their dominance would continue with a Shannon Frizell try as he steamrolled Le Roux en route to the line that had vibes of Jonah Lomu versus Mike Catt.

It was quite the start from the All Blacks and it led many to rethink their Rugby World Cup pre-tournament rankings as Ian Foster’s outfit seem in fine form.

Both the All Blacks and Boks were eyeing up a victory that would effectively wrap up the Rugby Championship silverware at the earliest opportunity.

New Zealand were 20-3 up at the break and would go on to win the game at Mount Smart Stadium 35-20 in an impressive showing in front of their supporters.

After a week’s break, the action will resume with New Zealand travelling to Melbourne to face Australia while South Africa host Argentina in Johannesburg.
