Blacks Ferns superstar Ruby Tui pours her heart out in an emotional interview after her team clinched the Women’s Rugby World Cup title at a sold-out Eden Park on Saturday.

Tui’s side edged out England 34-31 in a blockbuster final where the two teams traded blows throughout the encounter in a fantastic showcase for Women’s rugby.

England had a chance to steal the game right at the end with a lineout near the Black Ferns’ line, but it was not to be, as the hosts nullified the threat to win.

After the game, the winger was bursting with pride at the collective effort of her team and the fans in attendance. Tui has become a powerful figure in pushing the Women’s game forward as she calls out those who doubted the popularity and success of the World Cup in New Zealand.

Tui brings the crowd into an emotive chant, screaming into the microphone. Goosebumps. Fans hoist her autobiography to the sky in celebration and delight, wearing a smile from ear to ear. Iconic.

The Black Fern’s influence does not end with her memorable interview as Tui makes time for fans.

The 30-year-old hands off some memorabilia to the young fans and takes a video thanking a young girl for taking up rugby!

Tui has become an icon in the Women’s game and embodies the cornerstones of rugby union’s ethos; community, togetherness and appreciation. A truly remarkable player but an even better person.
