Baptiste Serin nailed a kick under pressure for Toulon.

France international Baptiste Serin showed his calmness under pressure on Sunday when he landed a long-range penalty with less than a second on the shot clock.

Playing his club side Toulon in the Top 14, the scrum-half was lining up an attempt at goal from distance when the ball fell off the tee with 12 seconds remaining.

Quick to react, Serin showed all his experience and coolness as he promptly put the ball back on the tee, jogged backwards and immediately approached the ball.

Cool kick

Incredibly the 30-year-old struck the penalty right through the uprights from close to 50 metres out on the angle to move Toulon into a 15-9 lead on 46 minutes.

The classy scrum-half exhaled in typical nonchalant fashion when he headed back to get ready for the restart, with this another moment of magic from the player.

Unfortunately for Toulon they would only kick a further three points before the full-time whistle whilst Clermont managed to add 10 points that secured the win.

Clermont’s try came via Argentina wing Bautista Delguy on the 64th minute which was converted by fellow Puma Benjamin Urdapilleta, who also kicked a penalty.

However, all of the talk after the match was centred on Serin’s effort six minutes into the second half as the mercurial scrum-half continues to show his qualities.

France hopes

Serin will be keen to be included in France‘s squad for the upcoming November internationals after captaining the side in their drawn series with Argentina in July.

However, he will face stiff competition for the number nine jersey with Antoine Dupont poised to return to the fold along with Maxime Lucu and Nolann Le Garrec.

France begin their Autumn Nations Series schedule against Japan on November 9 before they face New Zealand on November 16 and finally Argentina on November 22.
