Wallabies call up Skelton and Schatz

Australia have called up Will Skelton and Jake Schatz for their final game of the Rugby Championship away to Argentina in Mendoza.

The Wallabies will be without number eight Ben McCalman, who was ruled out of the game after picking up a shoulder injury against South Africa on Saturday.

There are also doubts over the availability of second row Rob Simmons, and centre Matt Toomua.

Skelton returns to the side having lost his place on the bench to former skipper James Horwill, while the uncapped Schatz could make his Test debut in the game.

The Wallabies now look certain to finish third overall after going down 28-10 in Cape Town to the Springboks.

However scrum-half Nick Phipps is confident they can come back and avoid becoming the first team to lose to Argentina in the Rugby Championship.

“It’s pretty disappointing, the boys aren’t happy about it, but [Michael Hooper] just said in front of the group that it’s important that we don’t walk around kicking stones,” he said.

“It’s important we individually analyse the game and then have those micro chats between groups.

“[But] we’re not going to dwell on it. We’ve got a lot of work to do, I’m the first one to say that, but it’s not devastating.

“We’ve got another game ahead of us and we can get on the front foot there and hopefully put on a good performance like they did last year.”
