After a 43-19 victory over Georgia in their final Rugby World Cup pool match, here’s how we rated the Wales players on Saturday.

15 Liam Williams: Another classy showing from the veteran as he was reliable in the skies, racked up the running metres and took his try well. 7

14 Louis Rees-Zammit: Didn’t have a great deal of ball to work with until a gift of a try that was a walk-in changed that as he went on to finish with three scores on the day. The injection of pace he provides is second to none and Rees-Zammit certainly enjoyed what came his way in the second half. 9

13 George North: Has had a fantastic Rugby World Cup thus far and continued to impress with 58 metres from seven runs that included a late try. 7

12 Nick Tompkins: Didn’t get much joy with ball in hand in Nantes but defensively was where he shone, racking up 12 tackles in a physical shift. 6

11 Rio Dyer: Some excellent work on the kick chase to pressure the Lelos as Dyer impressed more defensively than in attack today. A tireless shift. 7

Late call-up to starting team

10 Sam Costelow: Called in just before kick-off as a starter for the injured Gareth Anscombe and gave a measured account of himself, kicking 13 points off the tee and directing things nicely. Set up a try and mixed his game well with his kicking and distribution on point while he made 13 tackles. 7

9 Tomos Williams: Started the game with a great 50:22 but wasn’t his usual sniping self thereafter, with just four carries that made 10 metres. 6

8 Taulupe Faletau: Concern as he left the field holding his wrist on 65 minutes and the whole of Wales will be holding its breath about that injury. He is such a complete rugby player as he chipped in with 12 tackles while offering so much with ball in hand. Wales need Faletau to receive the all-clear. 8

7 Tommy Reffell: A typical Reffell performance as he was a nuisance at the breakdown, racked up his tackle count and chipped in well on attack. 7

6 Aaron Wainwright: Fairly quiet around the field by his usual high standards with just two carries for two metres. Solid defensively, however. 5

5 Dafydd Jenkins: An impressive performance from the lock as he made 19 metres from his six carries and was busy out of possession too with 18 hits. 7

4 Will Rowlands: Another strong showing from the second-row with 15 tackles and seven lineout wins showing his worth in that department. Solid. 7

Opened the Welsh try account

3 Tomas Francis: A rare try that Francis enjoyed that helped ease any Welsh nerves and he fared well at scrum time and made nine tackles too. 7

2 Dewi Lake: A rugged performance from the skipper as Lake put in a shift defensively and led his side well. Also made 10 carries on the day. 7

1 Gareth Thomas: Not as prominent as his fellow front-rowers but solid enough before coming off on 52 minutes with his fellow prop and hooker. 6

Replacements: The bench didn’t make a great impact in all honesty as a defensive mismatch saw Nicky Smith skinned and Gareth Davies fended off for a Georgian try. Elsewhere, Taine Basham was yellow carded for a scuffle so not the impact Warren Gatland will have wanted from his troops late on. 4
