Toulon have released a statement following an investigation into two players over an incident in December.

Steffon Armitage and Xavier Chiocci were taken into custody on Wednesday over allegations of an assault on a 30-year-old man in Toulon following a Champions Cup win over Leicester on December 13th.

The latter was released by police without charge, while Armitage spent the night in custody and is awaiting a decision on his case.

“Rugby Club Toulonnais are awaiting the results of the investigation and will, if necessary, take action to preserve the values the club holds dear,” read a statement.

According to the initial report of France Bleu, neither player, nor the victim, can recall what happened on the evening.
