Toulon line up shock Stevens move

Former England prop Matthew Stevens could be a shock replacement for Carl Hayman at Toulon according to reports in France.

The triple European champions have been searching for a tighthead for next season, with Hayman retiring and Martin Castrogiovanni leaving the club, and have already completed the signing of Salesi Ma'afu from Northampton.

They were believed to be on the verge of signing Stormers and Springbok tighthead Frans Malherbe, but Stevens has now emerged as an unlikely contender to join.

According to Var Matin the player is on the verge of signing for the club ahead of next season.

Currently at the Sharks, the 32-year-old won 43 caps for England and spent time at both Bath and Saracens while he was in the Premiership.
