Toulon confident Halfpenny will stay

Leigh Halfpenny will extend his contract with European giants Toulon, according to head coach Bernard Laporte.

The Welshman, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season, has been linked with former team Cardiff Blues and also Wasps.

However, Halfpenny's current coach believes a contract extension is imminent.

"He's staying at Toulon. I don't know when he will sign but it should happen," Laporte told AFP.

"He's a good lad, you need some like him in a club. He trains five hours a day."

Halfpenny has been on the sidelines since he ruptured a knee ligament during a World Cup warm-up game against Italy in September.
