Round one of the Investec Champions Cup is now complete, and the scores are in for those playing the Superbru fantasy league.

Planet Rugby have joined up with the podcast For The Love Of Rugby in the ultimate fantasy league table. Joining stars like Ben Youngs, Dan Cole and Anthony Watson, players can test their rugby knowledge against three of the greatest former players in the English game.

Before we reveal who chose wisely and who forgot to change their teams, let’s have a look at which five players performed the best in the opening round.

5 Clinton Swart – 25.5 points

The Stormers number 10 was a shock top performer in the opening round after kicking an impressive 16 points in their victory over Bayonne. Listed as a centre on the fantasy league, Swart started the match at fly-half, gaining the majority of his points from the boot – most notably from his four penalty kicks. He also carried the ball 35 metres during the match, which helped top up his scores. At just £3m, he’s certainly worth looking at.

4 Noah Caluori – 26.5 points

The English starboy was on fine form once again this weekend as he wrecked the Clermont defence in Saracens‘ opening round victory over the French side. Getting on the scoresheet once again, the 19-year-old picked up most of his score from his work with ball in hand, gliding past defenders as he stretched his long legs to cause all sorts of havoc. At still only £5.7m, Caluori is criminally undervalued and worth a look at, particularly if you’re attempting to keep the squad under the salary cap.

3 Jordan Larmour – 32 points

The Irish winger got on the scoresheet twice in Leinster’s demolition of Harlequins at the weekend, earning himself a well-deserved Investec Player of the Match award in the process. It wasn’t a game without issues for the 28-year-old, however. He was found guilty of a couple of missed tackles and penalties conceded, which lowered his overall rating; however, thanks to his work with ball in hand, he finds himself third on the list. At £7.6m, it’s worth noting that he benefited from a strong squad behind him, but if he’s to repeat his impressive start, the small mistakes will need to be tidied up.

2 Matthieu Jalibert – 35.5

One of the most dynamic number 10s in world rugby, and on Saturday, he proved why. Head and shoulders above any other fly-half in the competition, Jalibert assisted in two tries, scored one of his own, made 30 metres in carries and was crowned Investec Player of the Match. At £9.2m, he’s not cheap, but you can see why.

1 Ange Capuozzo – 38.5

The zippy winger was at his world-beating best on Sunday, as his Toulouse side beat an understrength Sharks in France. Another Investec Player of the Match winner, Capuozzo scored a scintillating hat-trick, made five clean breaks and ran 65 metres with ball in hand. A popular choice with 10% of players choosing him, the 26-year-old will set you back £8.2m if you wish to have his skills in your team.

For The Love Of Rugby – Results

The hosts of FTLOR arguably had a mixed bag in the opening round, with one player in particular sitting near the bottom of their 500-person league.

Youngs will reflect on his opening round disaster-class, having scored just 110 points after clearly failing to check who was playing on the day, whilst Watson boasts a score of 148.50 – despite choosing two players who did not play, and one player, Tadhg Beirne, who earned him -1 point.

Out of the three, it is Cole who holds the bragging rights at this current time, having secured 176 points from his side. Expect plenty of boasting from the former England prop on this week’s FTLOR.
