This weekend’s predictions

Date published: September 11 2015

It's that time of the week when we put our heads on the chopping block to bring you Planet Rugby's predictions.

No international action this weekend as teams put the finishing touches to their Rugby World Cup game-plan away from the rigours of Test rugby.

Instead we have domestic action from the Top 14, PRO12, Currie Cup and ITM Cup so fear not as we have you covered should you want a rugby punt.

Paddy Power is our chosen bookmaker to bet with. Let's select the best picks.

Dragons v Zebre

Last week the 11/2 offered on Sarel Pretorius to score anytime was arguably the bet of the round and this week many bookies have acted on this and cut him to 4/7 and 8/13 in places. Paddy Power has him priced at 15/8 which is still good against a Zebre side demolished by Cardiff Blues last week.

Glasgow v Connacht

Glasgow will be reeling after going down to their first home loss in a long while against the Scarlets. Connacht meanwhile opened up with a win over the Dragons and the plus 7 points offered to them on the handicap is worth taking. Connacht to score over 16.5 points (Evens) is also good.

Currie Cup

Blue Bulls v Golden Lions

The game of the Currie Cup weekend sees second host first, with the return of Jaco Kriel to Golden Lions colours a huge boost to their line-up. Kwagga Smith is also set to be a handful when he comes off the bench and we just think that may tip the scales for the visitors to win by 1-5.

Canterbury v Hawke's Bay

Both these two teams are unbeaten in the Premiership and Championship respectively and Canterbury will be desperate to keep that going as their scrap with Tasman continues. The Magpies meanwhile are battling with Wellington in the second tier sprint to get back up to the ITM Cup proper.

We fancy the home side to sneak this one and the 1-10 point margin is priced at 12/5 for them, with Matt Todd's performance key to their hopes.
