The legendary Alun Wyn Jones to have his ‘final dance’ in November

The great Welsh second-row Alun Wyn Jones is set to have his send-off when the Barbarians face Wales on November 4.
Wales have said they will pay tribute to the most capped Test player in history (158) on the day as he lines up for the Barbarians.
It was initially expected for Jones to finish his career at the 2023 Rugby World Cup but the veteran retired from Test rugby earlier this year. After which it was unclear whether he would hang up his boots in all forms of the game until Toulon came calling and signed the legend as a medical joker during the tournament.
“Final dance”
The Barbarians will be coached by Wallabies head coach Eddie Jones and the incoming All Blacks boss (post-World Cup) Scott Robertson, with the game being played at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
Robertson had high praise for lock Jones who will certainly go down as one of the greatest in the game. The New Zealander is looking forward to being part of the Welshman’s ‘final dance’.
“Alun Wyn will have been the first name on many teamsheets for many years,” Robertson said, in a joint Welsh Rugby Union and Barbarians statement.
“And I am not only looking forward to meeting him and coaching him, but also watching him in his final dance with a passionate crowd.”
Robertson’s coaching partner for the match spoke highly of the famous ground in Cardiff:
“Principality Stadium is one of the best places in the world to play rugby and when you add the passion and fervour of a Welsh crowd and the unique and exciting brand of rugby the Barbarians are famous for, we have a match in prospect that will be the envy of fans around the globe,” said Australian Jones.
Wales great Jones captained his country on 48 occasions and won three Six Nations titles in the process, making him one of seven people to have won three titles post-war.
It will be a monumental occasion not only for Jones but also for Welsh rugby as the game serves as a homecoming for the side from the World Cup in France.
