Ulster have been struck by a double injury setback after it was confirmed that wing Tommy Bowe and back-row Marcell Coetzee require surgery.

Bowe sustained a left ankle fracture in the Ireland game against Wales on Friday and underwent surgery on Tuesday to stabilise the fracture. The experienced international is expected to be sidelined for 8-12 weeks.

Meanwhile South African number eight Coetzee sustained a significant left knee injury in Ulster's game against Zebre on Saturday. He will undergo exploratory surgery next week to fully ascertain the extent of the injury.
