Sunday Social: Women’s Rugby World Cup continues and Michael Hooper returns

It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.

The Women’s Rugby World Cup continued this weekend, and Emily Scarratt decided she wanted to do it all on her own, scoring this try and all 13 of England’s points on the night. What a brilliant performance from the star! Clutch in every sense.

Fiji claimed their FIRST win in a Women’s Rugby World Cup on Sunday against South Africa, and look what it means to player of the match Siteri Rasolea. Fantastic to see the game growing for all people across the world.

Despite a heavy loss, the Wales side still took time to see this young fan and sign their jersey. Small things such as this make rugby union a special game.

Very nearly a cheeky moment on live coverage! Benhard Janse van Rensburg explains his kicking routine and just misses the crossbar. He probably accounted for the altitude in Pretoria for that one.

Utter class from Saracens announcing Ben Earl’s new deal! Absolutely hilarious from the Premiership club, who gave a full swing at this one. Top effort!

That is as pure a 50-22 you will ever see. Ulster’s Mike Lowry bossing it with this kick. This is the clip you would show your mate when you need to explain the law. Simply sublime.

SCENES! Gloucester let their hair down after a fantastic win against Bristol. Camaraderie and togetherness. Brilliant stuff and the cornerstone of the game.

A lot more people would have tried to go professional if they knew this was the award for man-of-the-match! Gloucester’s Louis Rees-Zammit with a crate of cider for his efforts, surely that can’t make him faster!?

Sharks fans have embraced their club’s rebrand and ‘Fear the fin’ slogan. Pretty fitting for the daunting number of Test players in their 23! However, results will soon show if the sleeping giant is waking up!

Elsewhere, Wallabies legend Michael Hooper is set to return to Test rugby after a break. Regardless of where your allegiances lie, rugby union is better with Hoops on the field. Welcome back.

Finally, balance, poise and GAS! This is a ridiculous try from Matteo Carreras, who just decided to skip past the entire opposition to score a long-range try. Genuinely astonishing.
