Sunday Social: U20 fever, another Tuilagi and Springbok bloopers

It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.

Goosebumps alert! Italian U20s captain David Odiase was absolutely dripping with passion with this pre-game speech. He is a true warrior. Look at the laser focus in his eyes and notice how by the end his teammates are ready to run through walls for him. Inspirational leadership.

A historic battle in the mud! Italy created their own slice of history as they downed South Africa in the World Rugby U20 Championship, earning their first win over the Junior Boks at that level. It was a sensational performance from the Italians who deserved to win the epic clash.

This one could be out of a Cheslin Kolbe highlight reel! Despite the loss, Junior Springbok Damian Markus scored an absolute worldie from deep in his half, showing impressive speed and a superb final step!

Another banging try from the U20 tournament. This time it’s France who show incredible passing and awareness to score. So many passes and good support lines. An easy one to watch over and over.

Different Tulagi, same trademark strength! Posolo, son of Henry, is the latest player from the famous rugby family to make his mark on the world as he powers a one-man maul for France in the U20 World Championship. He was like a John Deere in the mud!

Ireland’s Johnny Sexton is a true veteran having spent 18 years in the professional game. How fascinating it is to trawl through all the different looks the fly-half has had over the years. He certainly has changed from the fresh-faced youngster he was to the greying great he is now.

Wales head coach Warren Gatland has been taking his side through a gruelling training camp to bring the side together ahead of the Rugby World Cup. Part of that was playing crying baby noises to the team and Oom Rugby very quickly hopped on that by taking aim at Wallaby Nic White after his dramatic reaction last year to a stray Faf de Klerk hand.

Don’t quit your day job, lads! Several Springboks absolutely butchering an advertising video promoting the Rugby Championship. Wonder how many takes that took to finally get right!?

What a try! A golden oldie to feast your eyes on from Wales in 1991 who show impressive handling and passing in a frenetic passage of play that saw them under huge pressure at one point. Wales certainly were not willing to let the ball die in this one!

It is so good to see Jonny Wilkinson on a training paddock and why wouldn’t England want to learn from one of the best to do it? Put that drop goal in the locker, never know when it could come in handy, especially with that World Cup looming.
