Sunday Social: Duhan van der Merwe

It is time for Planet Rugby’s Sunday Social, your quirky recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past week’s action.

This is going to be the most talked about try this year. Duhan van der Merwe take a bow. Simply put, one of the best tries you will ever see. The Scottish wing runs over 50 metres, beats five defenders, and powers his way over. Just WOW!

All it needed was the Titanic music! Nevertheless, a brilliant slo-mo of Van der Merwe’s sensational try against England in round one of the Six Nations.

Are you telling me he has done all that with untied shoelaces? Further proof that it is Duhan’s world, and we are just living in it.

After many fans called for Chris Harris to start, the centre combination of Huw Jones and Sione Tuipulotu put in a sensational performance against England. Times have changed ‘Huwipulotu to the moon!’

Now Warren Gatland pitching up to training in shorts during the Welsh winter. The New Zealander is warm enough from the hot seat, especially after this weekend.

It was at that time he realised! Hilarious screenshot of Gatland during his first game back with Wales. The question is, does he actually regret it after that opening game?

Ryanair’s social media admin never ever misses a beat. They hopped on the bandwagon, absolutely taking Gatland apart with this one. The internet remains undefeated yet again.

WOW! A swinging arm that Bakkies Botha would have been proud of and only a yellow card! The moral of the story is don’t taunt the defender when you are scoring a try!

How many motors are powering this boat?? Stormers skipper Steven Kitshoff shows off his more agile side in this video of him wakeboarding with some tremendous skill. He got more height on that wake than he ever has on a rugby field.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it is just a parachute tackle! What are the odds of a parachuter making an emergency landing on a rugby field, let alone colliding with the ball carrier? Only in France.

Look at that big man move! Somebody sign him up for Strictly Come Dancing! Springbok and Racing 92 prop Trevor Nyakane breaks it down in the gym with some impressive skill.
