Stringer enjoying front-foot ball

Peter Stringer heaped praise on his Sale Sharks forwards for the solid platform they have provided him in recent weeks.

Last time out in the Aviva Premiership, the Sharks secured a 15-9 win over Wasps at home and Stringer attributed the success to a dominant forward pack.

"I am pleased with how it is going, the forwards are constantly setting platforms and have been quite dominant in recent weeks,” the Irishman told the club's website.

"Any scrum half will tell you that it is a lot easier playing behind a pack that's going forward.

"We have been dominant at the set piece and have performed well in the scrum and line-outs too which we gain a lot of ascendency off and it gives me a great platform and makes my job a lot easier."

The Sharks run out to face London Irish on Saturday. Despite the Exiles lying second from the bottom on the table, Stringer is not taking anything for granted this weekend.

"We are expecting an intense game from London Irish, they are in a position in the table where they are fighting for their lives, so they will want to come up here and get a win on the back of a European result," added the 38-year-old.

"They are a team that will bring a lot of intensity off the line, they are a lot more aggressive with their line speed and they will try to put us under a lot of pressure.

"You can never rule out a team that have got there backs to the wall, they will have a fight so we will have to deal with that, but I think it is important to focus on our own game as best as we can."
