South Africa hooker Adriaan Strauss has reportedly rejected a contract extension from the Cheetahs and will join the Bulls.

The influential Test number two began his career at Loftus back in 2005 and is now seemingly set to return to Pretoria after seven years in Bloemfontein.

Strauss has allegedly turned down a contract extension with the Cheetahs, leaving him open to negotiate with other teams from Tuesday, July 1.

The 28-year-old has won 34 caps for South Africa since making his debut in 2008 and is currently the Cheetahs captain.

Although Strauss is yet to sign a contract with the Bulls, the deal could be finalised this week. Strauss also reportedly received interest from the Stormers.

He appeared off the bench for South Africa against Scotland in Port Elizabeth last weekend after serving a three-match suspension for a tip tackle while playing for the Cheetahs against the Stormers.

The Cheetahs are currently bottom of Super Rugby having won only three of their 14 matches in 2014, a far cry from last year when they reached the playoffs.
