Stade Français stun Toulouse

Stade Français stunned Toulouse with a try by Paul Williams three minutes from time to lift their season with an 18-17 victory.

The champions much-needed win sees them remain well down the bottom of the table in 11th place, but accumulate vital points to potentially kickstart their campaign.

Alexis Palisson opened the scoring for the visitors in the sixth minute after good work from Maxime Médard, but Toulouse were denied a second score by the TMO only five minutes later.

Sébastien Bézy, one of five uncapped players called up by new France head coach Guy Novès this week, slotted a penalty not long after to make it 0-8.

Jules Plisson hit back for Stade Français, with the aid of the post, for his first penalty not long after.

Both sides failed to add more points before half-time as Toulouse took a five-point lead into the break.

Stade Français were hit with the loss of Djibril Camara to injury not long after the interval prior to Bézy adding a second penalty.

Plisson responded five minutes later to close the gap, before the hosts took the lead for the first time.

Hugo Bonneval's kick-chase evaded the Toulouse defence for the full-back to score his side's first try on 62 minutes, converted by Plisson to make it 13-11.

Two penalties from Bézy within five minutes however swung the advantage back Toulouse's way, as they looked set to return to first place in the Top 14.

Stade Français had other ideas. Williams' dramatic finish in the corner, confirmed after multiple replays by the TMO, put the hosts ahead once more only by a single point after Plisson's missed conversion, as Toulouse were unable to come up with the winning points.
