Springboks flyer produces STUPENDOUS no-look pass in epic try
Canan Moodie produced a moment of magic in the Bulls' 24-40 Currie Cup victory over the Pumas.
Springboks back Canan Moodie produced a moment of magic in the Bulls’ 40-24 Currie Cup victory over the Pumas at Mbombela Stadium on Friday night.
Moodie missed South Africa’s mid-year internationals against Wales, Ireland and Portugal through injury but looks primed for a recall to Rassie Erasmus’ squad for the Rugby Championship clashes against the All Blacks and Los Pumas.
Canan Moodie shines for the Bulls
The 21-year-old Rugby World Cup winner marked his return from injury at the start of August, featuring in the Currie Cup clash against the Cheetahs, but it was his third game back where he really shone.
Against the Pumas on Friday, Moodie threw a wonderful no-look pass in a brilliant flowing Bulls attack to send full-back Devon Williams over for his side’s fifth try.
The Bulls attack was kickstarted by Sintu Manjezi behind their 10-metre line with the lock linking up with back-rower Nizaam Carr, who superbly drew in two defenders, riding the tackle of one before offloading in contact back to Manjezi.
The lock popped it to Moodie on his inside and, with the Pumas defence tearing after him, he threw the stellar no-look inside ball to Williams, who skinned the last defender to score a memorable try.

It was a pivotal score for the Bulls, who had raced into a 26-5 half-time lead, but the hosts came out firing scoring two quick tries to claw back to 26-24.
Williams’ try swung momentum back into the visitors’ favour and a later score from Chris Smith cemented the victory for the Currie Cup table toppers.
Springboks boosted as double World Cup winner makes long-awaited return ahead of All Blacks Tests
The Blue Bulls have won all bar one of their seven games in the tournament this year and are the only unbeaten team in the competition having drawn 34-all with the Cheetahs earlier this month.
With the Springboks returning to South Africa for back-to-back Test matches against the All Blacks, Moodie is likely to be drafted into Erasmus’ squad, providing options at centre, wing and possibly full-back.
He was the youngest member of the 2023 World Cup-winning squad and featured in the pool stage matches against Romania and Tonga, scoring a try in the latter.
