South Africa v Italy: How to watch, live stream, kick-off time

South Africa welcome Italy for the first official Test of the season and they will be hot favourites to beat the Azzurri on home soil.

The game is the first of a double-header against Italy on 5 and 12 July in Pretoria and Port Elizabeth, respectively. The Springboks will then play Georgia on 19 July in the final Test games before the Rugby Championship later in the year.

South Africa impressed in their warm-up game against the Barbarians last week. They ran out 54-7 winners and will be hoping for a big score against the visitors, who themselves secured a comprehensive 73-6 victory over Namibia last time out.

Rassie Erasmus’ side will feature 12 Rugby World Cup winners in the starting XV in a strong line-up against a much-changed Italy side from the one that finished fifth in the Six Nations tournament.

Flanker Vincent Tshituka will earn his first Test cap after his impressive performance against the Baa-Baas, while scrum-half Morne van den Berg will earn his third cap as one of the least experienced members of the squad.

At the more experienced end of the scale the Springboks will welcome back Damian Willemse for his first appearance since the 2023 World Cup final.
