Six on the spin for Canterbury

Date published: September 20 2015

Canterbury made it six wins from six in the ITM Cup but were pushed hard by North Harbour, winning 17-10 on Sunday.

Johnny McNicholl opened the scoring midway through the first-half as he was quickest to Rob Thompson's chip through, with Tom Taylor converting.

Ben Funnell crossed for the second five minutes before half-time, working his way over from close range after a good line-out drive.

Taylor converted again as Canterbury led 14-0 at the break but Matt McGahan got North Harbour on the board with a penalty early in the second-half.

A penalty from Taylor pushed the lead to 17-3 but North Harbour at least had the final word, with Tevita Li crossing six minutes from time after good work from his pack.

The win keeps Canterbury in second, just two points behind leaders Tasman having played a game fewer.
