A deep dive into the stats leaders from the opening two round of the Six Nations.

Following two rounds of thrilling Six Nations action, we run through the stats leaders and which players have shone in the fortnight.

With the help of Opta Stats take a look at all the individual attack, defence and set-piece stats.

Top points and try scorers

Thomas Ramos finished the last two editions of the Six Nations as the Championship’s top points scorer, but the Frenchman sits in third place overall after the opening two weeks.

Leading the pack is Italy’s sharpshooter Tommaso Allan (31) who has slotted nine penalties and two conversions. Not only does the Azzurri full-back top the scoring charts but also has the best ‘points gained’ when compared to the expected points.

Allan has outperformed by scoring 5.1 points more than his expected rate considering the difficulty of his kicks with Ireland’s Jack Crowley boasting the next-best points gained rate of 1.3. Marcus Smith has the worst points gained rate of goal kickers so far in the competition at -4.8 after scoring nine out of a possible 16.

Trailing Allan on the point-scoring charts is France’s Louis Bielle Biarrey (20) who has scored four tries with Huw Jones’ hat-trick taking his tally to 15 – level with Ireland pivot Sam Prendergast.

Bielle Biarrey and Jones lead the try-scoring charts with their efforts while Ben White, Tommy Freeman and Theo Attissogbe all have two tries so far.

Meanwhile, Antoine Dupont and James Lowe lead the way in terms of try assists having set up three tries apiece with Fin Smith (2) being the only other player to assist more than one try.

Attacking stats

World-class outside back Blair Kinghorn has replicated his stunning form at Toulouse in the Six Nations as he has been a key attacking weapon for Scotland so far in the Six Nations as he tops the charts for carries made (36), metres gained (319) and ranks joint third for defenders beaten (8).

Gregory Alldritt (33) has made more carries and gained more metres (197) than any other forward in this year’s Championship.

Ireland’s Lowe not only has four try involvements for the defending champions but has also gained more metres (231) and carries (23) than any of his teammates.

Meanwhile, Scotland winger Darcy Graham has been the most elusive attacker in the tournament beating 11 defenders in the opening two games despite being forced off early in round two. His teammate Duhan van der Merwe is not far behind with nine defenders beaten which is the joint-second best tally with Bielle-Biarrey.

England’s Ben Earl has beaten more defenders (8) than any forward with Italy’s Lorenzo Cannone just one shy of the Red Rose star.

Scotland skipper and powerhouse flanker Rory Darge (27) tops the tackle count for his country and has made more dominant hits than any other player (6) – with Negri just one off his tally.

England’s Tom Curry (3) is tied with brother Ben on dominant hits by an England player but he does lead the way in the tournament for turnovers won (4), making at least two more than any other player.

Lineout stats

Unsurprisingly Federico Ruzza is once again Italy’s go-to man at the lineout racking up 14 takes in two rounds – five more than any other player.

Grant Gilchrist (9) has the most takes for Scotland with Maro Itoje (8) leading the way for England and Ryan Baird (8) for Ireland.
