Following Saracens’ 28-3 defeat to Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun, here is how we scored Mark McCall’s men in the Investec Champions Cup clash.
Saracens player ratings v Glasgow Warriors
15 Elliot Daly: Got some decent change out of the Warriors ball-in-hand, and always seemed to make something positive happen for his side when others couldn’t. 6
14 Max Malins: Found himself in and around the action a lot, but couldn’t quite get the breakaway he threatened as Glasgow managed him well. 5
13 Lucio Cinti: Gave his side consistent front-foot ball, which was a rarity considering the aggressive Glasgow defence. Made his tackles when needed too, but nothing spectacular. 6
12 Owen Farrell: Found himself cast as the pantomime villain of the piece, with boos greeting his every intervention, but didn’t put a foot wrong to be fair. Made some decent dents in Glasgow’s defence, while also chipping in on defence in a busy midfield channel. Also scored his side’s only points of the evening. 6
11 Rotimi Segun: He has really kicked on of late, and despite his team’s relative struggles, this was another fine outing for the winger. Always managed to get himself into space, beating a whopping nine defenders, and made the most of every touch of the ball with a game-high tally of 104 metres. 8
10 Fergus Burke: Was kept under wraps, finding himself met with multiple Glasgow defenders every time he touched the ball. Cannot fault his efforts, though. 5
9 Ivan van Zyl: Did the basics very well in a messy ruck area, but couldn’t quite inject the tempo needed to get around the Glasgow defence. 5

Back-row
8 Ben Earl: The focal point of his side on a pretty sobering day. Trucked supremely well in the tight across his shift, making an eye-watering 22 carries alongside 15 tackles and a turnover. Can leave with his head held high. 8
7 Juan Martin Gonzalez: An off day for the usually totemic back-rower, as he came off second-best against a revved-up Glasgow unit. Also copped a yellow card in the first-half, which proved incredibly costly for his side. 4
6 Theo McFarland: Again, not quite at his usual levels amid a Glasgow barrage. Will be frustrated as a result. 5
Tight five
5 Hugh Tizard: Worked incredibly hard in the tight, in keeping with recent outings. Also managed to get some inroads in both the breakdown and attack, which was rather pleasing. 7
4 Maro Itoje (c): Cannot fault his efforts, as he got stuck into that battle up-front. Made his tackles, threw himself into the breakdown and looked to get his hands on the ball as much as he could. 6
3 Marcus Street: A tough day, in all honesty. Came under the pump in the scrum, with Glasgow getting the upper hand across the front-row, and later picked up an elbow injury. 4
2 Jamie George: Solid without setting the pitch alight. Looked to get around the pitch, particularly in attack, and was typically accurate at the lineout. 6
1 Eroni Mawi: Like his prop colleague, found himself second-best in the scrum, but got himself about in the loose to decent effect. 5
Replacements: While they didn’t come on and change the game drastically, they steadied the ship in the second-half. Tom Willis in particular made himself very busy right from his introduction, while Rhys Carre also brought an extra bit of punch. Noah Caluori will be annoyed at his yellow card, however, but that doesn’t take away from the bench’s overall impact too much. 6
