Two-time Rugby World Cup winner RG Snyman looks set to be heading to Premiership side Bath when his contract with Munster ends next year.

The Telegraph are reporting that Bath are the frontrunners for the gargantuan lock, who played a key role in South Africa’s victory in France.

Snyman is currently out of action following surgery on a chest/shoulder injury, with him likely to return in March.

Injury issues

The second-row has spent much of the past few years on the sidelines having sustained successive ACL injuries, but his addition would be a massive coup for Bath.

They have assembled an impressive squad over the past year, including signing Scotland fly-half Finn Russell.

Bringing in Snyman would add to the array of stars in the West Country as they seek to build on their promising start to the season under Johann van Graan.

It is understood that Van Graan may be a factor in the lock’s decision, with the two having worked together at Munster.

As a result, the Stormers may miss out on the Springboks forward. According to Rapport, they are looking to table a dual-contract offer alongside SA Rugby in the region of £550,000 for the 28-year-old.

However, it is dependant on the money that is financing the deal, which originates from private equity, being cleared in time.

Henry Arundell update

Bath are also favourites for the signature of exciting England back Henry Arundell, who looks set to return to the Premiership.

The speedster signed for Racing 92 after his previous club, London Irish, entered administration, but it was only on a one-year contract.

Racing have reportedly offered to extend it by another two years but, according to The Telegraph, their deal is not as large as the one put to Arundell by Bath and the RFU.

The governing body are looking to introduce hybrid contracts, which will allow them greater control over players while also financially compensating the clubs, and the 21-year-old is one of those they are hoping to tie down.

Arundell was originally deemed to be eligible for the 2024 Six Nations having received special dispensation to feature for the Red Rose despite playing in France, but that will change if he re-signs for Racing.
