The Rebels have secured the signature of young playmaker, Jack McGregor, who is set to join the Melbourne outfit ahead of next season.

The signing of the New South Wales Schoolboys captain adds to the growing depth and is a further boost to the Rebels squad for the 2017 season.

The 19-year-old is renowned, amongst his peers, for his leadership skills and strong ability to control the game.

"We’re thrilled that Jack will be joining the Melbourne Rebels," Rebels General Manager Baden Stephenson told the club's official website.

"Jack is a quality player with a huge future in front of him and his skill set, hungry attitude and maturity will be well suited to our club."

Despite the unknown that awaits the budding fly-half, he is excited about all things fresh – new city, new club and new coaches.

"I’m very excited to sign my first contract, it’s been a long time dream for me since I was a kid so to sign with the Melbourne Rebels is very exciting for me and my family," McGregor said.

"I’ve always enjoyed my time in Sydney but there was an opportunity to sign with the Rebels and the feeling I get down here around the culture that’s been built is pretty exciting and a major factor behind the move.

"I get a good feeling chatting with Tony (McGahan) and the coaches and about their expectations so I’m looking forward to next year."
