QUIZ: Can you name every Men’s World Rugby Player of the Year winner?
Following the announcement of the 2024 World Rugby Awards winners, we challenge you to name the past recipients of the Men’s 15s Player of the Year.
To make things easier and perhaps more interesting, we have created a multiple-choice quiz on this occasion and you will not have to type out all the legends of the men’s game.
World Rugby Player of the Year winners
Over the years, the All Blacks have dominated the nominees and winners of the award but there is a good mix of stars from across the biggest rugby-playing nations.
Despite an uptick in recent years, the Springboks still trail the nominations race by nine with New Zealand boasting an impressive 31! Australia (15), Ireland (14) and England (13) are not too far behind with France (9), Wales (5), Argentina (2), Italy (2) and the USA (1) following.
Unsurprisingly, New Zealand leads the way in terms of winners as they more than double the next-best tally produced by South Africa.
On 11 occasions an All Blacks player’s form over the year has been rewarded with the World Rugby Player of the Year award, with a Springboks player taking the gong on four occasions including the most recent one in 2024.
Ireland and France have three winners apiece while England and Wales have produced one each. Surprisingly a Wallabies player has never claimed the individual award despite reaching the Rugby World Cup final on two occasions since it was introduced.
There have also been four players who have won the award on more than one occasion, three hailing from New Zealand and one from South Africa.
So without further ado, take on the quiz and let us know how you fared in the comments on social media.
