France flanker Noa Traversier paid a huge price for his showboating.

France flanker Noa Traversier learnt a harsh lesson in the U20 Six Nations fixture against Ireland on Friday evening.

As many before him have learnt, Traversier showed that you should not celebrate a try until you have actually scored!

Oh Noa!

The young France back-rower looked to be in for an easy run-in but quickly got overconfident as he received an inside ball after some sterling work from his full-back Jon Echegaray, who had regathered a shallow box kick and skinned the first defender.

He linked up with Traversier, who looked to already start celebrating his score before a thumping tackle from Ireland scrum-half Will Wooten.

The tackle from the number nine dislodged the ball from Traversier’s grasps as the clear try-scoring opportunity went a-begging – it was an absolute clanger.

While the botched try mattered little in the final outcome of the match as France secured a 22-12 victory in Cork, onlookers certainly found the incident humorous.

“This was so enjoyable to watch. Straight from ‘what terrible defence’ to ‘what a defence’,” one Ireland fan remarked on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

They added: “Look how happy Traversier is”

“Some showboating from France’s Noa Traversier before he was anywhere near the line,” RTE Sports’ caption read.

“Never celebrate before the line” one comment read with another adding: “Well, that is a lesson learned”.

“That’s one humbling life lesson right there,” one Reddit comment read with another adding: “It’s one of those moments that stays with you forever.”

It was not the best game for Traversier ultimately as he would also be yellow carded soon after his error that cost his team a try.

That will add to what will make for uncomfortable viewing in the match review.
