No comment from Leicester on Thorn

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill has refused to discuss the potential acquisition of All Blacks lock Brad Thorn.

The 39-year-old was linked with Leicester last week after leaving Super Rugby outfit the Highlanders.

In possession of a glittering list of accolades and with plenty of experience, Thorn could be the missing piece of the puzzle for Leicester as they look to win their 11th Premiership title.

Cockerill though wouldn't confirm or deny the move when asked about Thorn's potential arrival.

“I don't have a contract with Brad Thorn's signature on, so I don't want to comment,” Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury.

Cockerill also revealed that the announcement of Steve Mafi's move to the Western Force had been a little hasty, with Mafi still registered as a Tigers player and work to be done on the move.

“The Mafi thing is a little bit premature from the Western Force's end,” said Cockerill.

“That (move) will happen but he is still our player and we hold his registration. There is some detail (to finalise).”
