Nine-try win for Racing 92

Top 14 champions Racing 92 were rampant as they thrashed Bayonne 59-20 on Saturday at home.

Teddy Thomas and Gerbrandt Grobler both crossed for two of the team’s nine tries, as Racing move for now up to seventh in the table.

Surprisingly given the final scoreline it was Bayonne who took the early lead, Martín Bustos Moyano scoring two early penalties to make it 6-0.

Tries from Brice Dulin and Henry Chavancy put Racing into the lead but Romain Martial’s try closed the gap to 14-13. Scores from Grobler and Dimitri Szarzewski then meant Racing led 26-13 at half-time.

From then onwards it was one-way traffic, Bustos Moyano’s yellow card not helping Bayonne’s cause as Racing fell just short of the 60-point mark.
