Newcastle punish inept Grenoble

Editor

Newcastle scored eight tries in their 50-7 demolition of Grenoble at Kingston Park in the Challenge Cup on Sunday.

Four converted tries in the first 40 minutes gave the home side a commanding 28-0 lead at half time as the Falcons made full use of two yellow cards either side of the break for the visitors which made life hard for them.

Another two tries while Grenoble were down to 14 men in the second stanza sealed their fate as Ben Sowrey and Joel Hodgson got their names on the scoresheet.

Edward Sawailau got a consolation try in the last 10 minutes but the visitors will take no comfort from that as they suffered an embarrassing defeat on the road.
