New Worcester Warriors head coach proud to be part of 'special' resurgence
Worcester Warriors are set to rejoin the RFU Championship ahead of the 2025/26 season after two years in the wilderness, and now they have a head coach to lead the team.
Former defence coach at Leicester Tigers, Matt Everard, will be taking the reins at the head of the table as he looks to represent the people of Worcester with pride.
“This is a club with real heart, a proud history, and a loyal community behind it. The opportunity to be part of its resurgence is incredibly special. I’m here to build a team that works hard, plays with passion, and represents the people of Worcester with pride,” he declared.
Right person
Worcester Warriors CEO, Stephen Vaughan added: “Matt is the right person to lead this new chapter. Having worked closely with Matt previously, he is perfect for the role, and we are delighted to have him join us at the very outset.
“He understands the values and culture we are looking to build here, and the potential of Worcester Warriors. His elite level experience, connections and leadership will be crucial as we return to competitive rugby and rebuild from the ground up.”

Sitting in the stands of Sixways, the ground that the Warriors will be returning to, Everard spoke about how he came to secure the position of head coach.
Amazing club
Speaking fondly of his upcoming venture, the 34-year-old said: “To be a part of such an incredible city and such an amazing club. I had some great days, and some very tough days here as a player and as a coach, so I’m incredibly grateful and incredibly excited to be a part of Worcester.
“I met Chris Holland and Stephen Vaughan here and spent the day here walking around the stadium and the facilities, and spoke about the plan and what we could do – at that point it was a no-brainer.”
