Munster lose Cronin for four weeks

Munster will be without James Cronin for four weeks after the prop was banned for stamping.

Cronin was cited for stamping Leinster scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park during Munster’s PRO12 defeat to their rivals last weekend.

He will now miss Munster’s European games against Racing 92 and Glasgow and their PRO12 fixtures against Ulster and Ospreys.

The ban also rules the international prop out of Ireland’s Test against New Zealand in Chicago on 5 November.

Cronin was initially banned for five weeks but after the disciplinary committee took “mitigating factors” into account it was reduced to four weeks.

Cronin will be able to play again on November 7, but he has the right to appeal the ban.
