More misery for Melvyn Jaminet as Toulon also punish France full-back for racist social media post
There was more misery for France full-back Melvyn Jaminet after his club, Toulon, announced that they have followed the French Rugby Federation’s (FFR) example by suspending him for racist social media comments.
Jaminet was part of France’s South American tour last month when he posted a video on his Instagram page, which quickly went viral.
Sent home early from tour
Les Bleus team management then punished Jaminet by sending him home after just one match of their three-Test tour of Argentina and Uruguay.
“Whatever the circumstances that led to the incident, Toulon suffered considerable damage to their image and interests as much for their supporters as their players and employees,” Top 14 outfit Toulon said via a press statement on their official website.
Toulon added that Jaminet had agreed to take part in community service to reduce his suspension by eight weeks and he will not be in action again until next year.

Also received a fine
The club also revealed that they have modified the 25-year-old’s contract and the FFR also issued him with a fine of 30,000 euros.
In his Instagram video, Jaminet was heard saying: “My Daronne (the player’s mother) asks me if I’ve been partying… (he breathes out) I swear, the first Arab I see on the street… I’ll hit him with my helmet… I’ll hit him with my helmet… I say: I’ll hit him with my helmet… With my helmet, I hit him..”
Jaminet came to prominence with Perpignan, who he represented from 2019 to 2022 before moving to Toulouse where he spent one season.
He left the Top 14 champions last year to join Toulon and has already made 20 Test appearances for France, scoring 216 points.
