Australian playmaker Ben Lucas has extended his contract with Montpellier for another year after impressing in his first season.

The former Reds three-quarter arrived as a medical joker for the injured François Trinh-Duc midway through the season but struggled for game time initially.

The arrival of Jake White at the head of the club saw him gain more chances and he featured regularly in the second half of the season, first at fly-half before switching to full-back once Trinh-Duc returned from his broken leg.

The club today confirmed that Lucas would be staying with the club for a further season after signing a new deal through to 2016.
