Toulouse fly-half Romain Ntamack scores the match-winning try in the Top 14 final against La Rochelle.

Toulouse and France international fly-half Romain Ntamack has posted a social media video that will bring smirks to the faces of club and country alike.

“Boots on, back on the pitch” was the announcement, accompanying the 26-second video in which Ntamack is trotting from one end of the Toulouse training pitch to another and having a chat to his fitness trainer.

Ntamack ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a World Cup warm-up match against Scotland in August and has repeatedly insisted he will not rush a return to action.

On schedule

A fortnight ago the 24-year-old told L’Equipe: “I’m ahead of schedule on a lot of things, but the aim is not to miss a step to avoid a possible relapse. We’re not taking any risks. The surgeon and I never set a precise date (for my return to action). I hope it will be between the end of March and the beginning of April 2024.

“It’s good for my head to know that it’s holding up and that the work I’m doing every day is showing positive progress every time.”

Toulouse host Toulon on Saturday in the weekend’s big Top 14 clash, which Ntamack will doubtless be watching, and he may be joined by former team-mate and now Toulon full-back Melvin Jaminet.

Jaminet moved from Toulouse to Toulon a few weeks ago, but as a part of the deal struck to free him from his Toulouse contract 18 months early the clubs agreed that Jaminet could play no part in this game.
