Leinster to make ‘final decision’ on RG Snyman ahead of Springboks Tests while injured duo travel with Ireland for All Blacks showdown

Leinster head coach Leo Cullen has issued an injury update on Springboks lock RG Snyman following their shock defeat to Munster.
Snyman was forced off the pitch early in the second half of Leinster’s 31-14 loss to their rivals and looked rather uncomfortable as he departed.
Despite the concerns over his fitness, the powerhouse lock was still named in Rassie Erasmus’ Springboks squad for the November internationals against Japan, France, Italy, Ireland and Wales.
RG Snyman update
Cullen and Leinster have now issued an update on the 30-year-old and several of his teammates who are set to do duty for Ireland during the Autumn Nations Series.
The full extent of Snyman’s injury is yet to be confirmed, but it doesn’t seem like it is too serious, as he could still feature for the Irish province in their round five fixture against Zebre this weekend.
“RG Snyman was withdrawn from Saturday’s game with a hip injury and will be further assessed throughout the week before a final decision will be made on his availability,” the statement read.
Tommy O’Brien and Jack Conan both missed the derby match against Munster but are set to travel with Andy Farrell’s Ireland squad to Chicago, where they will be further assessed, with the same true for centre Robbie Henshaw.
Meanwhile, Jimmy O’Brien has been called up to the Test squad following the injury to Mack Hansen and travels with the team for the clash against the All Blacks.

Springboks returnees
Snyman has been included in Erasmus’ squad along with Jean Kleyn, who came off the bench for Munster in the latter stages of the fixture.
The second-rower has been re-added to the ranks after playing for the Boks in the clash against the Barbarians earlier this year, with injury ruling him out of the Rugby Championship matches.
Ben-Jason Dixon and Gerhard Steenekamp are in line for their first appearances in Green and Gold, having also recovered from injury, with the squad further boosted by Kurt-Lee Arendse, and Edwill van der Merwe returns.
If Snyman were to be ruled out of the November internationals, Erasmus won’t be short of options with Eben Etzebeth, Ruan Nortje, Lood de Jager, Kleyn and Franco Mostert in the squad, while Salmaan Moerat has been placed on standby.
