Leicester snap up David Denton

Scotland international back-row David Denton has agreed a move to Leicester for the start of the 2018/19 season, joining from Worcester.

Denton first came to prominence at Edinburgh before moving to the Premiership in 2015, first with Bath and then with Worcester Warriors.

The 28-year-old has 30 caps for Scotland since his debut in the build-up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Tigers head coach Matt O’Connor said: “We’re delighted that David has agreed to come to Leicester. He is a top-quality player with a lot of experience at the highest level and we still think there is more improvement to come in his game.

“He has a useful skillset in possession, he is a physical player, he is a good age profile for us and is just the kind of player we’ve been looking to add to our options in the forward pack. We look forward to working with him.”

Tigers have already announced the signing of fellow forwards Will Spencer (from Worcester Warriors) and Guy Thompson (from Wasps) for the 2018/19 season.

Denton said: “I’m really excited to be joining Leicester Tigers next season. The club has a rich and celebrated history as well as a squad that is very capable of winning more trophies over the next few years.”
