Lancaster won’t take Japan job

Stuart Lancaster has been ruled out of becoming Japan's next head coach after speculation increased on Friday that he would take over the Brave Blossoms.

Lancaster's appointment would have resulted in one of the more unlikely job swaps in recent memory, with Eddie Jones now in charge of England.

The JRFU were willing to match Lancaster's £350,000 salary after his departure from England after failing to make the knockout stages at the Rugby World Cup.

Highlanders boss Jamie Joseph however is the favourite to take the role, with former Yamaha Jubilo coach Katsuyuki Kiyomiya also linked.

Lancaster has reportedly shown an interest to coach in Super Rugby.
