Springbok flanker Jaco Kriel has been ruled out of this weekend's Test against the All Blacks because of a shoulder injury.
South African Rugby tweeted from its official account that the 28-year-old will return home ahead of the match at North Harbour Stadium on Saturday. A replacement will not be brought into the squad.
Kriel hurt his shoulder in the 23-23 draw with Australia last Saturday.
On Monday he went for a scan in Auckland which revealed he had sustained a labrum tear.
An injury like this can take two to four weeks to heal. This puts Kriel in doubt for South Africa's following match in the Rugby Championship, against Australia in Bloemfontein on September 30.
