Kings duo head to Europe

Kings front-row duo Michael van Vuuren and Simon Kerrod have left the franchise to join Leicester on a trial and Jersey respectively.

Salary disputes with the Kings have forced prop Kerrod to seek greener pastures abroad. Jersey head coach Harvey Biljon has weighed in on the matter, explaining that this was an opportunity for the player to develop his game in Europe.

Jersey have not disclosed the length of contract that Kerrod has signed.

"Simon has progressed through age group and Vodacom Cup rugby in South Africa and has been close to getting an opportunity at Super Rugby level," Biljon told BBC Sport.

"However, he is now seeking to develop his game in Europe, and I believe his ambition and potential mean that he can make a real impact for Jersey at Championship level."

Another former Kings player, Van Vuuren, has signed a month's contract with Leicester, after the hooker also failed to secure his future at the South African Super Rugby franchise.
