‘John would love it’ – Hibbard

Gloucester hooker Richard Hibbard praised fellow front-ranker John Afoa for his try against Sale last weekend.

Hibbard said it was Afoa's athleticism that got him over the line.

"John would love it – he is a running prop … It is great with the shape that we have got now and the space to get your hands on the ball," Hibbard told GloucesterLive

"I was about two yards away from John so it could easily have been me – but I wouldn't have made the try-line like him!"

The international hooker also believes Gloucester's new running game-plan has caused the team to get into peak-physical fitness.

"It's fast rugby, quick tempo and I have dropped a few kilos to be able to keep up with it. I think we all leaned up and need to streamline and it has helped I think.

"It helps in every aspect – getting around the field and getting into your defensive line early. There is still a lot of technique in the scrum and, if we stick to what we are good at, I am sure we will be fine."
