Ireland legend ends months of speculation over his future with new deal

Munster and Ireland scrum-half Conor Murray.
Munster have announced that veteran scrum-half Conor Murray has signed a contract extension with the United Rugby Championship (URC) outfit and the Irish Rugby Football Union.
He is one of three players who have recommitted to the province, with back-row Jack Daly also signing a new deal while fellow loose forward Brian Gleeson is to be promoted from the Academy to the senior squad next season.
Amongst the best in his position
Murray, who has been one of the leading number nines in the business in recent years, has signed a one-year contract extension, which means he will extend his stay in Munster‘s senior side into its 15th year after he made his debut for them in 2010.
He has already won 116 caps for Ireland caps and also made nine Test appearances for the British & Irish Lions after representing the famous touring team on trips to Australia (2013), New Zealand (2019) and South Africa (2021).
Murray won his fifth Six Nations title with Ireland in March and was part of Munster’s squad when they were crowned URC champions last season.
The 34-year-old, who is a former St Munchin’s College student, has represented Munster in 185 matches and scored 34 tries for the province to date and was included in World Rugby’s Team of the Decade in 2019.

Meanwhile, Daly, who is 25, came up through the ranks at Castleisland RFC before making his debut for Munster against Zebre Parma in 2020.
He joined the Munster Academy in 2018, before being promoted to their senior squad in 2021 and plays his All-Ireland League (AIL) rugby with Garryowen.
The former Ireland U20 international made his Champions Cup debut against Toulouse in the quarter-final at the Aviva Stadium in 2022.
Joning Murray and Daly in putting pen to paper on a new contract is Gleeson, who joins the senior squad after just one year in the academy that has seen him score one try in nine senior appearances.
Champions Cup experience
Gleeson is currently sidelined with an ankle injury but has already made three Champions Cup appearances before turning 20.
The powerful back-row was a Grand Slam winner with Ireland’s U20 side in 2023. Like Daly, he plays his AIL rugby with Garryowen and came up through the ranks at Thurles RFC and Rockwell College.
