Immanuel Feyi-Waboso learns disciplinary fate following red card in France XV clash
England winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso
England winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has copped a three-game ban following his red card in his side’s 26-24 defeat to France XV on Saturday.
The Exeter winger, who was marking his return from a six-month injury lay-off, was initially yellow-carded after a high tackle on Antoine Hastoy, but this was soon upgraded to a red upon review.
His ban could be reduced to just two weeks if he undertakes tackle school; however, that will still rule him out of action for England’s two-Test series against Los Pumas next month, but he could return to face the USA should he attend tackle school.

Confirming the news, a World Rugby statement read: “The independent FPRC has confirmed a two-match suspension (subject to successful completion of the coaching intervention programme) to England’s Immanuel Feyi-Waboso after determining an action contrary to law 9.13 (dangerous tackle) during the England XV v France XV match. The sanction has been accepted by the player.
“In determining the sanction, the FPRC reviewed the matter, including all submissions and footage, the FPRC determined that Feyi-Waboso’s actions were contrary to law 9.13 (dangerous tackle), and that they carried a high degree of danger.”
George Ford calls for England ‘to be better’ after France XV defeat despite ‘great positives’
It added: “Therefore a three-match suspension was proposed to the player, reduced to two matches subject to successful completion of the coaching intervention programme. The player has accepted the sanction.”
The ban comes after England head coach Steve Borthwick and fly-half George Ford claimed the side would rally around the winger. “He’s gutted,” said Borthwick.
“Manny Feyi-Waboso is a good guy who tries his heart out. He left his emotions out on the field and it didn’t go the way he wanted it to. He is gutted in the changing room, but we will get around him and then we’ll find out about the situation in the next 24 hours.”
Ford added: “It’s all pretty raw right now, so it’s hard to say anything to him other than ‘keep your head up’. What will be will be with the disciplinary process but look, he is gutted in there. You just want to get around him and support him.”
